The Daughter-the Father
While Nisha runs, and attends high school, her father is a bariatric and general surgeon working at Huntsville Hospital and Crestwood. Nisha is inspired by her father's work, who helps many patients fight morbid obesity. After undergoing bariatric surgery for weight loss, some of his patients have become successful runners. Some have become personal trainers.
Having witnessed this change in people's lives following bariatric surgery, Nisha started to brainstorm on how to get more people to start a positive change before and or after following their surgery. Doing some research on obesity, nutrition and exercise Nisha learned that , according to the AHA walking is the "simplest positive change you can make to effectively improve your heart health" and "it is also safe, the least expensive, and has the lowest dropout rate of any type of exercise". During another hot and humid summer in Alabama, back in 2015, Nisha started her journey of setting up a road walk/run targeted to those struggling with obesity. She has never looked back.
In April 2019, she will lead the third Say No To Obesity 4k Walk/Run in hopes that people become aware of the worldwide epidemic that obesity is.
